The green wall – or more accurately, an indoor vertical garden – was built at the URBA company headquarters. The primary objective was to incorporate as many plants as possible on both sides of the structure, while using glass panels to allow natural light to flood into the building's interior.
During the design phase, every single centimeter counted, as the wall is located in the office's main high-traffic thoroughfare. The vertical garden separates the internal office area from the publicly accessible space. It is divided into 8 alternating sections in a rhythmic pattern of greenery and glazing. The entire structure measures 9 meters in length and stands an impressive 3 meters tall. A total of 480 plants grow on both sides, and the tanks supplying the automatic irrigation system hold nearly 1,500 liters of water.
The garden’s role is to distinguish the internal daily life of the company from the open-access area. On the inside, it creates a cozy environment for employees to enjoy meals together and relax, while on the open side, it provides clients with a comfortable and quiet atmosphere.
The installation of the green wall sparked a movement to fill the entire office with exotic plants. Month by month, more and more of them are appearing. The largest of these is a 3.5-meter Strelitzia augusta growing in the lobby.
We look forward to welcoming you to the URBA office!
